Hi, all! Centre Stage Theatre Company here! Our programme for the 2016-17 season comprises of a variety evening in October and the re-scheduled play, “Tiramisu” next July. As you probably recall, we were obliged to cancel the latter this July, 2016, due to cast illness but we feel confident that everyone will be back in shape to perform it from 6th to 8th July 2017. It is a hilarious comedy set in an Italian hotel with mistaken identity and misunderstood motives providing the laughs. The cast and backstage team had already put in a lot of work so we are delighted to have been able to re-schedule this play by local playwright, John Skelding.
Our October 2016 production is entitled “Double Deal – it’s not over till the fat lady sings” and will be presented at Westwood First School, Westwood Road, Leek ST13 8DL at 7.30pm on Thursday 20th, Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd October. The evening will include an Alan Bennett “Talking Head” performed by Judy Herbert, a hilarious potteries accent version of Shakespeare’s Scottish play (can’t say the name as we don’t want this production jinxed as well!) and a one-act comedy by David Tristram entitled “The Fat Lady Sings in Little Grimley”, performed by some of our regular team: Gordon Wainwright, Jeanette Norcup, Mike Egan and Joy Spencer.
As usual, there will be a wine bar open from 7pm and we shall set tables in the auditorium so that patrons can enjoy a drink as they watch (beer, juice and water will also be available).
Please come along and support your local drama group and keep theatre alive in Leek. Tickets may be purchased by telephoning the Ticket Secretary on 01538 382546 or the General Secretary on 01538 373560 or from E&E Grainger, Derby St, Leek or Westwood Road Post Office.
The picture shows Jeanette, Mike and Joy (with Ben Childs) who will be reprising the roles they took in David Tristram’s “Last Tango in Little Grimley” performed in July 2015. Ben’s part will be played by Gordon this time around.
Our evening’s entertainment will range from thought-provoking drama to rip-roaring comedy and we assure you that a good time will be had by all.
